Your child will be welcomed into a cheerful environment with enthusiastic and loving teachers. There is a class for each age level and many fun activities that will delight and amuse your child while providing wholesome Christian education.
After you enter the church, just come on downstairs to the Church School where you will be greeted, your children registered, and immersed in the activity for the day. You will return to the Service upstairs and then return to the Church School area to pick up your children directly after the service. You and your children then go upstairs to the Parish Hall “Coffee Hour” where your family is invited to enjoy the delicious refreshments and meet other families.St. John’s Church School welcomes all children Infant through 12yrs. There is a staffed, well equipped Nursery for the little ones complete with a rocking chair, make-believe kitchen, toys, and large muscle play structures.
Pre-K through 1st graders transition to our wonderful Godly Play program that invites the children to explore biblical stories and parables. It celebrates the individuality of each child by providing suitable learning opportunities for further exploration of the weekly story.
Our 2nd thru 5th graders enjoy The Joyful Path where character building is developed through weekly affirmations, an in-depth study of a particular character trait such as Honesty, Integrity, Friendship, and Service to our Community using experiential learning opportunities. Currently 6th graders serve as “Student Teachers” in Church School, participate in the upper grade program, and serve as Acolytes.
Church School starts at the beginning of the 10:00 a.m. Church Service. For the children whose parents wish for them to attend Communion, we will bring them up to the adult service after the Peace where they may remain with your family for Communion. The rest of the children will come up in a Children’s Processional directly before the announcements at the end of the service.
For parents who are dropping their children off and not staying for the service, we ask that you pick your children up no later than 11:20am, as our staff is not available to watch your child past that time.
