Readings for the Fifth Sunday after Pentecost: July 1, 2012
Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Sermon: Pentecost 4, The Very Rev. Anthony Thurston
Some of you may know that my mother died a week ago. And I have been in Michigan, with my brothers and sisters, making arrangements for her cremation and memorial service and all of the things that must be done when someone dies. She died peacefully—without any pain—after a week or so of being in a deep sleeping state. I’m grateful for her love and I’m grateful for her life.
Today I want to talk about life after this life. This is on my mind, of course. And the issue of life after life may be on all of our minds when someone close to us dies.

Sermon: Pentacost, June 3rd, given by the Youth Group
Abby Elliott Good morning.
You may wonder why the four of us are standing up here, rather than Bud... Well, for the past five months we have been going through a program called Storyline. Each time we met, we discussed elements of church, exploring what it means to us to be a follower of Christ.
The first Sunday we met, we were asked what a church is. We came up with several answers, each of them meaning something different to every one of us. A church is where you learn about God. It is a community of people of faith. An opportunity to learn about yourself, as well as learning about others. A church is a sense of belonging. It is home. It is a way to express yourself. A church is the people that bring it together, all sharing similar beliefs.

Sermon: Trinity Sunday, The Very Rev. Anthony Thurston
I suspect there is some of Nicodemus in most of us. He seems to belong to our age as much as he did to his own.
He was open to new ideas and possibilities and independent enough to wish to hear—to listen—to see Jesus.
And he was skeptical. He wanted straight answers. He was willing to take the risk of breaking step with his colleagues in the Sanhedrin to make up his own mind about Jesus. But he was cautious: he saw Jesus at night. He wanted to keep the stakes low; and he was reluctant to put his reputation on the line.

Readings for Trinity Sunday: June 3, 2012
Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
