Please join us on the feast of St. Josephine Bakhita, who has been proposed as the Patron Saint of Victims and Survivors of Human Trafficking and Slavery, in song and prayer for the millions of our brothers and sisters who are trafficked and enslaved in our own communities and throughout the world.

Copies of the new Endowment Fund Resolution, adopted by the Vestry for presentation to the parish at the Annual Meeting, are available at the office.

St. Martha's Guild would love to add your name and email to our list of wonderful volunteers to call upon when the need arises. St. Martha's Guild provides organization and hospitality to such events at St. John's as receptions, funerals, weddings, and other gatherings in our church home. We also help provide dinners for parishioners following surgery or during illness. This ministry is open to everyone at St. John's regardless of age or time commitment. If you sign up, you will receive notice when there is a need in the parish. If you are able to help with that event or need, you simply reply to the coordinator. Once you sign up, you are not obligated to help with every event! If you feel this ministry is for you, please see Cindy Van Drimmelen.

Anytime that the local public schools are closed due to weather conditions, St. John’s office will be closed as well.

Coming Up:

Are you a contemplative? Are their persons within your parish, ministry, organization or program who are following an intentional spiritual path? Do you know persons who are intentionally seeking ways to develop a closer relationship with the Divine? On Saturday, February 25 there will be a special opportunity for such people to explore their inner spiritual journey through the life of Mary Magdalene.
Known as the “Apostle to the apostles” Mary’s message invited followers to a journey of inner awakening. The recent discovery of ancient manuscripts (including The Gospel of Mary, The Gospel of Thomas, and the Gospel of Philip) have expanded our understanding of Jesus’ message. They also point out conditions within the early Church that impacted the way his message was transmitted.
These Gospels have been studied and reflected upon by authors Elaine Pagels, Karen King and Cynthia Bourgeault. On this retreat day , we invite you to draw on Mary Magdalene’s message and to experience the gift of inner awakening .
The day’s activities will include STORY, DISCUSSION, CREATIVITY, Contemplative Prayer, PERSONAL SHARING, TABLE FELLOWSHIP.
