Patiently Practicing Prayerfully Praying the Prayers of the People, 10:00 AM to Noon, Saturday, October 22, 2011.

October 22nd Halloween-themed Family Movie Night & Dinner
On Saturday, Oct 22 @ 5pm we will be getting together in the West Wing for our 2nd Family Movie Night. We will show “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and play some games. Dinner will be provided. Feel free to come in your PJ’s and bring your blankies & pillows!

VESTRY POSITIONS: The vestry will be seeking four new members to replace those rotating off of the vestry. The time commitment is usually one meeting a month. There may be other meetings or committee work that crops up from time to time. It is a wonderful way to serve your church and to learn more about how decisions are made here. If you are interested, please contact the office or Linda Kidd.

SEARCH COMMITTEE: There are still openings on the search committee. It will be the job of this committee to screen candidates for Rector of St. John's and make a recommendation to the vestry. We are looking for a cross section of our parish... people who have attended for a long time, those here for just a bit, young people and seasoned adults, people from the 8:00 service and those who attend at 10:00. Please call the office for an application or pick one up on Sunday from Linda.

CHILDREN'S CLOTHING CENTER: We have only two more Saturdays of operation for the Children's Clothing Center. To all who have given time, talent and treasure we are so very grateful. This ministry would not happen without the support that we receive from all of you. Thanks so much for helping us make a difference to the children of Clackamas County.

SCRIP UPDATE: Start thinking about ways that scrip can help make your holiday gift giving a joy rather than a drudge. You can use scrip as a gift AND you can also use scrip to purchase a gift for someone. If you are not sure how the scrip program works, please stop by the scrip table in the narthex on Sunday. I'll be happy to help you!

Pledge Update, Week 1. Our pledge ingathering has begun and we are off to a great start! Pledges began arriving in the mail on Tuesday, October 11th. As of Monday, October 17th, we have received 32 pledges, 25% of our goal of 130 pledges. Those pledges were for $51,080.00, 24% of our goal of $210,000. Thanks so much to those who have pledged!

On Monday, Oct. 24, from 4-6 pm, TriMet is offering a driving tour to help people get a better understanding of the level of noise they might experience when a train goes by. Claudia Steinberg, of Tri Met, will be driving a 15-passenger van and will visit locations along current light rail lines that are similar in location and design to the proposed alignment in Milwaukie and Oak Grove.
The tour will leave from and return to Milwaukie City Hall.
If you are interested – or if you know of other people who are concerned about noise impacts of the proposed project – please pass on this invitation. We will have a second vehicle, if needed, so more people can participate.
Please let me know if you and/or others are interested in attending. Thank you!
Thank you,
