Children's Clothing Center update...
There are only four more weeks of operation for the Children's Clothing Center. We would like to thank all who have supported our efforts either with a donation or by working on Saturdays. We are very appreciative of your help. We still need shoppers the last three weeks of October, so please call Linda Kidd if you have a bit of time to share.
Search Committee application...
As we resume our search efforts in the calling of a new rector for St. John's, the next step in the process will be to choose the search committee. It is the job of this committee to develop the interview questions, to visit/interview/screen candidates and to make a final recommendation of three people to the vestry. The vestry will then look over all the work of the search committee, and make a selection among the slate presented to them by the search committee. If you have time to commit to this process, please pick up an application either on Sunday or call the office and request one be sent to you. The vestry is looking for people who represent a cross section of our parish, so all are welcome to apply. It is a very interesting process, and if you have any questions please let us know.
Gail & Tim Mills have welcomed twin granddaughters into the world this week! Congratulations, Grandma & Grandpa.

Come to the Harvest Dinner on Saturday, October 15th beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall! So what is the Harvest Dinner and why should I come? First, it's a celebration -- an evening of food and fellowship in thanksgiving for God's bounty and for the time, talent and treasure each of you give to St. John's. It's great food and good fun that serves as a kick-off to our annual pledge drive. Second, it's free and you may even win a door prize! Third, you can support the Youth Group, which will be serving the dinner, through optional "tips" and support both the Youth Group and Church School through an optional silent auction for really cool stuff. Fourth, the program is short -- we are, after all, preaching to the choir. Most important, St. John's is a family and we aren't complete without you! We do need to know how many folks are coming, so please sign up on Sunday following the 8:00 am and 10:00 am services or contact Sue at the office, 503- 653-5880 or office@stjohnsmilwaukie.org during the week. We are also looking for volunteers for set-up and clean-up. For questions, contact Harvest Dinner Coordinator Mary Dettmann.
