Church School!!

Church School at St. John’s has a new breath of vigor and is emerging into a place where children return to the fun and wholesomeness of Christian nurturing and fellowship.  The physical classroom setting is in the process of refurbishing: painted and spruced up classrooms, freshly waxed floors, and a promise of new lighting and remodeled restrooms.  Everyone at St. John’s is dedicated to developing a fabulous Church School environment for our children.

Everyone is welcome!  Parents don’t need to attend the church service for their children to attend Church School.  We see ourselves a community resource and a model of excellence for Christian education.  Register NOW for the 2010-2011 School Year! You can register by calling the church office, 503-653-5880 or at the door the first day of Church School.  The first day of Church School for the new year will be Sunday, September 19th,  9-11am.  Hope to see you then!

For further information, please contact Mrs. Patti Denny, our Church School Coordinator.

Summer Theatre Camp-“Who Built The Ark?”

The first annual summer Theatre Camp ran for two weeks this year from 9am – 12pm, July 19th – July 30th.  Fourteen children ages 3yrs – 11yrs participated in this lively event culminating in the presentation of the play, “Who Built The Ark?” In a dinner theatre setting, over fifty parents, relatives, and friends enjoyed the presentation and a potluck supper.  The children produced a jaw-dropping beautiful 10’ x 30’ backdrop that took our breaths away.  It was a magical evening.
However, there was more to the camp than just the culminating presentation.  Throughout the two weeks, the children worked on crafts, put on skits, practiced theatre skills, learned theatre jargon, sang songs and just enjoyed each other in God’s house.  Will we do it again next summer?  Absolutely!  Plan on enrolling early as the word is out about this fabulous day camp and space will be limited!
